Holland’s football is admired all over the world. Their philosophy on the game and how it should be played is one I respect and I think many other football fans would say the same. It’s all about technique and playing with imagination.

There has long been a sense that the Dutch play football in the “right” way, with a style based around technical expertise and tactical acuity, allied to the more physical, typically northern European attributes of our own game. We like the way the Dutch play; we also like the Dutch player himself, a famously outspoken individual in the dressing room, unafraid to voice articulate and contrary opinions.

Obviously English people should be completely ashamed that Dutch people’s vocabulary in both languages is larger than theirs . But they don’t and they prefer to cover their ignorance with puerile acshent gagsh.
